I work with the team at the beginning of every project to define the goals of both the user and the business. From there I begin researching industry trends, creating user personas, and analyzing competing products.
I collaborate on ideas and concepts with the team as we outline the structure of the project, or at least the next deliverable. Here I begin sketching potential solutions as we discuss strategy and functionality requirements.
User flows provide insights into the wants, needs, and potential frustrations of your users. Low-fidelity wireframes allow for rapid exploration and development of a product's information architecture and visual structure.
Clickable prototypes simulate the interaction between the user and the interface, providing valuable feedback on usability. I'm always on the lookout for new tools to streamline the prototyping process (currently using Figma).
My education at RIT was firmly rooted in the methodologies of late design legend Massimo Vignelli, emphasizing the importance of typographic structure and grid. Understanding these principles allows for impactful designs that also uphold visual syntax.
I believe the best results are achieved when the design process is didactic and iterative. Usability testing informs necessary changes to the interface, and also saves money and headaches by implementing them prior to the live product.
